About the Artist
I have been fascinated with the outdoors and the natural world since childhood. Growing up in the mountains of Colorado and later moving to the Pacific Northwest has allowed me to spend a lot of time hiking, camping, fishing and hunting.
Being an avid traditional bow hunter for close to 20 years started when I made my first wooden bow in 1991 and became a member of Traditional Bowhunters of Washington where I have been on the board of directors for several years now. I've met a lot of good people and hunting partners through TBW and have had the opportunity to share what I have learned with others when we hold our annual bow building seminar to teach others how to make their own wood bows.
I am currently an American Bladesmith Society Apprentice and believe in striving to improve my knowledge and skill. My goal with Little Hindu is to make useful tools using natural materials that honor the traditions from the craftsmen of our past. I strongly believe that the tools we carry into the field should help connect us to nature and be both beautiful and functional. That is one reason why each piece I make is unique and shows the character of the materials selected in its construction. I don't offer standard models and prefer to look at each creation as an individual endeavor.
Although I specialize in bladesmithing and traditional self bows, you will find other tools and useful outdoor items that are created with the same high standards. I've named Little Hindu in honor of my grandfathers favorite hunting area in the Cascade Mountains to let him know I regard everything he taught and instilled in me.
